Interesting story about the in-flight mov...Beilul,

Interesting story about the in-flight movie.

There once was a time when the movie was free but if you wanted to hear the sound on the movie you had to pay to rent the earphones. People got around that, though, by bringing on their own earphones (I still have mine). I don't know how they work things these days but it's hard to fathom that they would throw the movie on for free. These days they're very close to putting in pay toilets to generate a little more revenue.

And for the record, back when I was your age they were called stewards and stewardesses but these days they're referred to as flight attendants. If you want to stay in their good graces, remember to call them by the title they prefer.

One little thing about inflight movies. Back about the time you were born I had to fly from Miami to Santiago, Chile. This was not a SHORT flight, Beilul. I had the front row seat dead center on a plane with a large middle aisle and two smaller side aisles. Back then they showed the "movie" on a wide screen which was just about three feet in front of my face.

For the first couple of hours they just showed an aerial map with a red dot where our plane was. Since we were over the water most of that time, the dot was just on a sea of blue where the Caribbean was.

Later they showed some British TV shows--comedies with Rowan Atkinson. I have never been a fan of his so sitting through 5+ hours of him just three feet in front of me was almost as much torture as you all went through being stuck in O'Hare. Even though I didn't use the earphones, the noise filtering out of everyone else's earphones almost meant that I didn't even need a pair of my own.

Needless to say, I was pretty glad to arrive in Santiago.Don Gosneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17110247579694408858noreply@blogger.com
