I woke up not feeling as tired as yesterday, mostly because I got 6 and half hours of sleep opposed to the usual 5 hours I’ve been getting. Hopefully tonight I can sleep more because we don’t have class in the morning. But I am excited tomorrow because we will all be going on a cruise to Lake Cayuga. I’ve never been on a cruise before, so I look forward to the experience. All of the ILC students will be attending the cruise at this point except for one, Chris. Hopefully we can convince him to go, and relive him from some stress of their intense schedule. Anyways because today is Friday we only had to attend class from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., and the Hotellies only had to from 9:00 A.M., to 3:00 P.M. This relieved a lot stress from our daily routines.
Today’s lecture was pretty interesting especially because Mrs. Kaplan visited us, and we discussed Plato. My favorite part of Plato is the “Allegory of the Cave.” Prof. Kramnick discussed the allegory by saying many people take it as a symbol for education. All these people are locked in a cave, and when they see their shadows, they take this as reality. But, the true philosopher will eventually get free to the outside, and finds out real knowledge and goodness. He is supposed to come back, impart his wisdom on the people, and govern them.
Before we left to meet Mrs. Kaplan in the hotel lobby at 1, Andrew and I had to go back to the dorms to drop some stuff off. We only had 16 minutes to get from Trillium dining hall, to Mary Donlon hall, and all the way back to the Statler hotel, carrying a lot of miscellaneous things. For those who know the campus you understand the difficulty of that task, and for those who don’t know, well it’s a really long run. We made incredible time and got back to the hotel with three minuts to spare. After lunch we Kramnick kids left with Mrs. Kaplan to Target to get anything we needed from dish soap, to chicken pot pies. It was good to just get away from campus for a second and just go, it didn’t really matter where we went, just that we went. When we got back from Target Mrs. Kaplan bought us Cornell sweatshirts, at the Cornell store. I can’t wait for our cruise tomorrow!
Tell me the food at Appel isn't getting a little weird.
